We often get asked, what are the makings of coastal design? There are a few key ingredients in my opinion and I’ve taken some time to share them below. First and foremost, it’s important to remember that even if you don’t live on the coast, you can still achieve the feel and vibe of the perfect coastal escape. Design is a state of mind, a lifestyle.
blank canvas
We encourage a calming neutral palette as a first step. Avoid dark colors and choose crisp whites for your walls and lighter toned floors.
warm tones
Infuse the natural beauty of white oak or ash wood into your space for an authentic coastal touch.
texture + textiles
Embrace the imperfection of beach living (aka sandy toes) by implementing texture throughout your space atop wrinkled linens and cozy throws.
millwork
Speaking of texture, why not add it to your walls with shiplap or rustic wood to create a truly organic vibe.
