Looking for something?

“Southport Alfresco”

December 4, 2024

Tucked in at the end of a cul-de-sac sits the most charming Southport classic home just steps away from the water’s edge.  With darker floors throughout and outdated millwork details with closed off rooms, the homeowners were looking for a refresh of their entry and heart of home.

The first construction element that needed to happen was to open up the kitchen into the dining room which would allow us to flip the sink location to a window wall.  By removing the wall, the heart of home was now in full effect.  We added white oak casing to accentuate this now grand opening and added warm elements throughout the kitchen design to tie it all in.

BEFORE
AFTER

Let’s talk about this custom arched bar… gah!  We are in love.  The client wanted a counter height cabinet with character and we were so excited to work with the experts at John June Cabinetry to deliver just that.  By applying a fresh coat of Whitecaps to the walls, trim and cabinetry, it made all the natural details truly pop.

With a touch of shiplap on the custom hood to an oversized pass-through window and a 36” apron front sink ordained with a classic polished nickel bridge faucet stunner – this mix of elements truly made the kitchen come to life. Notice the hint of white oak shelving in the white glass upper cabinetry?!

We chose a sleek quartz slab backsplash by Enigma Valley to surround the kitchen and anchor the Valentino stone island. The beauty of the pale grey veining and 2” mitering made this 7 ft. shiplap island feel much bigger in the smaller sized kitchen. We selected modern lighting by Design Public to add an organic touch.

One of our favorite spaces to design is the kitchen (aka the heart of the home) and no matter how big or small the space; by choosing the right mix of elements, it should always feel like a space you want to hang out in and keep at its best.  Kitchens are meant to be functional and timeless and thanks to the special attention of our crew at Polcer Home LLC, we achieved just that for this beautiful Southport family.

xo, gaelle

In the mood for a refresh but don’t want to brea In the mood for a refresh but don’t want to break the bank? There are so many little ways to make a big impact and today we’re sharing our top three ways to make your space feel like new again!

1. PAINT… don’t underestimate the power of a freshly painted room, ceiling or accent wall. Tired of grey? Switch to a warmer toned neutral! Or go white for a breath of fresh air.

2. HARDWARE… sometimes all your kitchen cabinets need are a pop of new hardware. Lose the tired black pull and switch to an aged brass bin pull for a little fun with function!

3. DE-CLUTTER & REFRESH… purge your cabinets and make room for anything that you can get off your countertops. Switch out your couch pillows for new ones (I switch mine out each season!) and refresh your coffee table with new books and greenery!

Three questions I get asked often from clients and Three questions I get asked often from clients and if you’ve followed me long enough you know I’m not a huge rule follower.

1. Can I mix metals? A resounding YES! I love a polished nickel kitchen faucet with aged brass hardware, for example. 🫶🏻

2. Is beige trendy? We loooove neutrals and no they aren’t trendy! Find a neutral that calms your mind and warms your soul. How could that be trendy? Introduce a variety of wood tones and neutral textures in a single space and take a deep breath 🤎

3. Most durable countertop stone? Well, this one is debatable but we’re big fans of quartz. Good news is that quartz has come a long way and we’re in love with marble-like variations because you get the beauty without the fuss! 🙌🏻
