1. let the light in
The reduction of sunlight and warmth in the winter can certainly cause us to feel down during the winter months. Flood your home with as much natural light as possible to get rid of the dark, drab and dull feeling, and boost your serotonin. Designer Tip: Brighten up a dark room by hanging a mirror opposite of a window!
2. do a paint refresh
There’s no denying what a crisp white paint color can do to a room. White spaces are known to promote calmness, restfulness and tranquillity. Head to your local Ring’s End, or order online, to pick up our very own Benjamin Moore A La Plage color, Whitecaps. This is truly the perfect white hue for all aesthetics.
3. add greenery
Not only are plants aesthetically pleasing, but studies show that they can actually improve your mood! There is a calmness we feel when we look at lush greenery. Designer Tip: Next time you’re out, grab yourself a fresh fern or a beautiful bouquet of tulips!
4. infuse your space with a beautiful scent
Filling your space with mood-enhancing smells can make a profound effect on the way you live. Scents can help you unwind, reduce anxiety, sharpen your focus, and just feel downright happier! Specifically, our Soleil collection of room sprays and candles are the perfect choice for endless summer vibes and tranquility all year round.
5. declutter your home
There is something so calming and decompressing about letting go of items you no longer need and simplifying your space. With spring right around the corner, now is the perfect time to organize and freshen up your home. Find the perfect place for things that makes sense functionally and are also appealing to the eye. And say goodbye to those items that seem to endlessly float around your home. Designer Tip: Shop some of our favorite storage solutions!
6. layer up
Add texture to your space with throws, blankets, pillows, books and vessels of all heights. The feeling of coziness is immediately soothing and helps our minds take a pause. Experts say you are a product of your environment so surround yourself with beautiful things to make yourself feel extra happy during those dreadful winter days. Designer Tip: Add a pretty basket next to your couch with some of your softest throws to wrap yourself in while watching your favorite movies!
7. move your body
It’s a proven fact that moving your body a little everyday boosts your endorphin levels, which has a direct impact on your body and mind outlook. Whether it’s your garage gym, a long walk or jumping jacks in your living room, here’s a friendly reminder to put yourself first as best you can. Designer Tip: Try meditating 5 mins per day – you can do it!
