This busy family of five needed a better-functioning floor plan, and we couldn’t wait to give them the kitchen and hardworking spaces their beach lifestyle called for. We reconfigured the home to make room for an oversized island, walk-in pantry and dedicated laundry room, then filled each space with neutral tones, coastal color and plenty of texture. A plaster hood and wraparound seating gave the kitchen warmth, while a refurbished vintage pantry door and checkered tile brought in the character we love. The result felt useful, inviting and just rustic enough to live up to its name.
